Suffering in Silence: Male Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA) Survivorship

Suffering in Silence: Male Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA) Survivorship

by Nick Middaugh

“The earliest childhood memories I have are profoundly traumatic in nature. I was sexually abused at the age of four. The story you’re about to read is my attempt at putting into words the years of struggle and pain associated with my abuse. Along with a deeply personal and explicit telling of the abuse and how it affected my life well into adulthood, I present relevant data and social work literature to shine light on how devastating CSA is to the male cohort.

The suggested rate of occurrence regarding male CSA ranges from one-in-six to one-in-four. The average reticence for male survivors is 20 years.

Mine lasted twenty-three years overall.

My story isn’t pretty. It is a story of overcoming sexual abuse, suicidal ideation/attempts, alcoholism, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). With the right mindset, you can overcome just about anything. Buckle up. It gets dark real fast. Reader discretion is advised.”
